Gun Safety Reform

While Covid-19 has given us a pause from what seemed to be an almost daily news cycle of school and mass shootings, overall gun violence has increased over the past few years. We must make our streets, schools, and public spaces safer for our children and us. By implementing common-sense legislation that will close loopholes and create universal background checks, we can minimize guns getting into the hands of violent offenders and those with mental health issues. In addition, limiting high-capacity magazines and banning assault weapons should reduce the impact with these events due to their overwhelming use in mass shootings. The right to bear arms is enshrined in our Constitution. Every American should be able to exercise that right in a way that allows individual protection without sacrificing the safety of all.
